- Abstract
The authors investigated the current state of cheese market in Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). Developed two versions of the gravity model of cheese exports, the one evaluating the factors of the Russian exports developing, the second – of the EEU exports. The basis for assessment served the results obtained by the method of fixed effects PPML, the other methods were also used in the calculations. The other authors obtained the assessment of such factors as the “sanctions” and “EEU”. Estimates made for sanctions shows a strong positive relationship with exports, i.e. the impact of sanctions in sum it was the impetus to the development of mutual trade in the EEU. The free niche formed in the Russian domestic market as a result of the embargo and sanctions, stimulated the growth of domestic demand, including demand for the products of the EEU countries. Estimates obtained for the factor “EEU” showed that it is not significant for Russia, since the Russian exports are directed primarily to the third countries’ markets, especially in the period preceding the formation of the Union, while for the EEU in general, this factor is significant, due to the rest countries’ of the Union orientation to the large Russian market.
