In this paper to assess the impact of medical and pharmaceutical clusters on the economic development of the regions has been used an econometric model with fi xed and random individual effects. The database contained a number of statistical indicators for the 75 subjects of the Russian Federation for 13 years (1999–2011). The presence of such clusters increases GDP per capita by 0,11%. Thus, we have shown that the formation of clusters in the region contributes to the modernization of the economy and the development of the innovation process, and also leads to an increase in output.
